Good friend and regular angler at Meunier and Chantebeouf Rex Goddard has just had a week on Mongenet combining a bit of filming with a bit of fishing and to spend some time with youngest son Bobby.
This was the first time the lake has been fished since the stocking took place and the carp were very active. Only fishing a couple of hours in the morning and then with the rods out before supper they landed an impressive 41 carp ranging from low doubles up to 29lb with the average fish taking the scales around to 24lb.
Rex says ‘the daytimes were mostly very hot so we enjoyed a few day trips out to the likes Oradour Sur Glane, Lac St Pardoux and some great fun kayaking on the local river Vienne’.
He continues ‘this was very relaxed fishing, trialling some new baits for the owners and to do some aerial filming (see separate blog report) of Chanteboeuf and Mongenet. The fish were constantly head and shouldering, with a few jumping out fully and they were quickly onto the baits. They are obviously thriving and all are showing healthy weight gains already. And they really give a good account of themselves. Brilliant reel screaming rod bending action and an ideal way to get son Bobby a bit more hooked on fishing
